as of Thursday, May 3, 2012Do you know that one out of every 10 young athletes will suffer a concussion this year???The Pelham Soccer Club has teamed up with Forcefield Headbands to help promote sport safety in regards to concussions. Two of our soccer teams, the U-12 Pumas and the U-11 Lady Red Bulls have purchased these headbands( with the Pelham Soccer Logo on them) and they will be wearing them the rest of the soccer season. They work and wear like a regular sweatband but it has impact absorbing material, similar to that inside of a football helmet, to reduce the likelihood of a brain injury due to collisions and headers. If you have any interest in purchasing this for your soccer player, please contact Tracy Garrett at 70mulberry@comcast.net. They are $13.00 each. As always, our goal is to promote a safe and fun environment while supporting individual player development and competitive play!

The tryout for spring travel soccer has been postponed due to the weather and field conditions. Unfortunately, due to the strange weather we had this fall, the try-out never happened. If you provided us with your information and are interested in playing this spring, a coach will be in touch with you and will schedule a personal try-out.

The Pelham Soccer Club is holding another goalkeeper’s training session this Thursday 10/20 at Muldoon Soccer Field from 5-6pm. There is NO COST for this session and all goaltenders of all ages (and those thinking about being a goaltender) should attend. Derek is a seasoned goaltender who has played at the collegiate level and has helped many of our club’s players in the past. He will teach proper techniques, skills and drills that all goaltenders should work with and will help to get you game-ready. This WILL make a difference in how your goalkeepers play.
This session is available for anyone who has been there before, along with anyone who will be attending for their first time.
Players should bring a ball and plenty of water.
Please contact Jim Druding (jim@pelhambuidingsupply.com, cell– 603-234-3192) with your child's name if planning to attend. |

In their 3rd shutout win of the season, the Pelham Pumas blanked Merrimack in their 2nd meeting of the year. The Pumas kept high pressure on the Jaguars all game with the help of their strongest defensive stand yet. From start to the finish, Pelham saw an excellent game from midfielder Alena Masterson who netted the first goal of the game and her first of the season with a blast from 30 yards out. The second and third goals of the game came in the 2nd half. Scoring from just outside the goal box was Brittany Ducharme with a well-placed shot in the far, upper corner of the goal. Then Madison Burke sealed the win to make it 3-0 with her 2nd goal of the season. Solid defensive games were played by Holly Feola, Cathryn Scanlon, Megan Landry and Hanna Beaudette. This shutout was the 3rd this year for goaltender Amira Eid. With this win the Pumas are 5-1. |
